Back in 1999 I was a hack writer and marcom program manager at the now defunct Digital Equipment Corporation. 2000 brought me to a startup where we were all going to make millions. After an intense 9 months I took a few weeks vacation and headed out, with minimum notice, to raft and camp in the Grand Canyon. They told us the trip would change our lives. Boy did it ever. I returned to a new world -- high tech was crashing, the startup was a fraud, and shortly after my return I was out of a job. So much for millions. I quickly found another gig, and then came 9/11 and my career came a'tumbling down. When it became clear that high tech and the economy weren't going to recover any time soon, I headed north to a little mini-farm with the intention of learning about medicinal herbs and establishing a small herb farm. I hadn't had time to even think of a name, so I stole a name that I'd always liked -- Jade Hill Farm. And so that's been name for this place. After several years of working in the nursery garden, one morning the name of *my* herb farm came to me. Magical Thyme Farm. It lives only in my heart and my spirit for the moment...it has yet to manifest in physical reality. But this blog is devoted to making that happen. In the meantime, I will be writing on training my horses, growing my food, day-to-day life on a small farm in rural Maine, the critters I share my life with, working at whatever crap job comes my way...and whatever else pops into my head. So welcome. And enjoy. I hope you find what we offer here of value.
